Which City Do You Belong In? 7/09/2006 11:36:00 AM

So I took this little quiz online today (thanks Sam!) just out of curiosity.

The strange thing is that, recently I've been trying to seriously think about where it is I would like to live (after some deep questions by moms the other day, thanks mom!). And last night before I was going to bed, I was just laying there thinking about London, and how much I actually loved the city, but how I'm not sure I could ever live there (because of the distance between friends/family). 'Course if London was a city somewhere in the US, then hell yes, I'd live there. Of course it wouldn't be the same though if it were, because being London, not an American city, but the world's city, is what makes it what it is. Anyways, I'm getting too long winded here. I just got a chuckle (and maybe a tear) from my results of this quiz, and wanted to share.

You Belong in London

A little old fashioned, and a little modern.
A little traditional, and a little bit punk rock.
A unique woman like you needs a city that offers everything.
No wonder you and London will get along so well.

The funny thing is, I didn't know London was an option, which is tres great because you know how sometimes when you have an answer that you want to get, your answers start changing to try and get that ultimate result. There was none of that here, so I'm pleased with the outcome. But now I wanna know what the other cities were, lol.

As to how went the babysitting yesterday, not so bad. I just had Dane Cook's voice in my head for that last bit, tee hee. It's not so baaadd. Lol.

So yeah, there was a moment where I was afraid there would be blood (I was seriously looking, haha) but end3ed up being fine, and Brandon only went home with a few scratches on his arm and knees.

I swear though, it was so surreal watching those two all day, just for the fact that it reminded me soooo much of me and John, when we were little. I don't know if its one of those things with the 1st child/2nd child characteristics, but I swear I recognized the roles all too well. Bryce was very polite, pretty quiet, good helper, and then you got Brandon who screams because he dumped his juice out on the ground, and then wants Bryce's. So you tell him to ask Bryce nicely if he will let him have a drink of his, and Bryce being the older sibling and a little gentlemen is like, "Sure Brandon. Here, I'll share my juice with you" and then the little brother takes the juice and runs away with it. Little brat.

Haha, I think I'm still bitter over too many similar situations in my own wonder years.

I thought this fit the post quite well. With the exception of it's excessive rhyme-iness, i thought it was okay.

52. A Ballad of London

AH, London! London! our delight,
Great flower that opens but at night,
Great City of the midnight sun,
Whose day begins when day is done.

Lamp after lamp against the sky 5
Opens a sudden beaming eye,
Leaping alight on either hand,
The iron lilies of the Strand.

Like dragonflies, the hansoms hover,
With jeweled eyes, to catch the lover; 10
The streets are full of lights and loves,
Soft gowns, and flutter of soiled doves.

The human moths about the light
Dash and cling close in dazed delight,
And burn and laugh, the world and wife, 15
For this is London, this is life!

Upon thy petals butterflies,
But at thy root, some say, there lies,
A world of weeping trodden things,
Poor worms that have not eyes or wings. 20

From out corruption of their woe
Springs this bright flower that charms us so,
Men die and rot deep out of sight
To keep this jungle-flower bright.

Paris and London, World-Flowers twain 25
Wherewith the World-Tree blooms again,
Since Time hath gathered Babylon,
And withered Rome still withers on.

Sidon and Tyre were such as ye,
How bright they shone upon the tree! 30
But Time hath gathered, both are gone,
And no man sails to Babylon.
