Not to get all political on you... 6/14/2006 09:06:00 PM

but everyone should know by now that I obviously love music, and I'm a fan of sharing/spreading the love, and there is a great interview with Natalie Maines with the morning radio show on STAR 98.7 (Hot AC ->adult contemporary format, obviously not a country station) worth checking into, if you think you'd be curious enough to listen. http://www.star987.com/pages/audio/NatalieM.mp3

One of my most recent purchases was the Dixie Chicks new album "Taking The Long Way". I'm actually surprised I bought this album. I have their album from around 1998 or 1999, but I never expected to really follow them much. But I always liked (or at least, didn't dislike) their music they released previously, and along with studying politics and the media these past couple years I've come to have certain ideas/opinions that led me to be interested when I heard they had a new album out. Especially after finding out how this album and the group are being received (or rather 'not recieved') to radio, and in the media in general. Hell, I pretty much bought the album just in spite of them being 'blacklisted' to show my support and make sure I was getting the chance radio listeners are being denied to hear some of their new stuff and just decide whether I like it or not for myself.

Regardless, I found out I really loved the music on this record. It does have elements with a little more pop/rock oriented vibe in parts (as is easy to see why when you glance in the credits, with Rick Rubin producing the whole album, John Mayer, Bonnie Raitt, and others), but its still country, and even if you don't like country, you might find yourself surprised. Holly might agree with me now though, that they are kinda like "the gateway drug to country music", haha. They made a really good album, they should be really proud. And f*** the haters.

ETA:(Oh yeah, just wanted to add, if you wanna hear the single "Not Ready To Make Nice" and/or see the video (which is great!!!) you can check it out on my myspace )
