Crazy Londoners!!! 1/26/2006 08:35:00 PM

Although my little lead in here has less to do with the actual mental state of people living in the city of London and more to do with what happens when you get stir crazy without any FREAKIN' WIRELESS INTERNET! . You get a bit hostile. Shit happens.

Anyways, I had been meaning to come rant about this, but haven't felt enough like ranting lately, but tonight's a good night for it.

1) because I took a 3 hour nap today, and now I can't go to sleep (its 2:35am here)
2) because I can't go to sleep and I have no internet in my room, so I have to be down here in this hot stuffy lab
3) I started talking to Charley about concerts and it reminded me of this

So, as a big fan of the Wizard of Ooohs and Ahhs, better known as Mr. Jason Mraz, I was excited to learn that he would be overseas during the same time I am. So over winter break, I tried to purchase some tickets to a show over here, but stupid Ticketmaster UK wouldn't let me because once I selected UK for delivery, it wouldn't let me use my American Billing address. So I figure, no big deal, the shows aren't untill March anyways, I'll just get tickets once I'm over there.

Yeah, so I get here, and of course, in all the excitement forget about it for a couple days, get online, and find out all the shows are sold out. Of course, he's also doing a couple opening for James Blunt. So I figure, no biggy, I love James Blunt, if I have to see Mraz as an opener its all good. I've done it before (*cough* Alanis Morrissette, anyone?). Yeah, all those sold out instantly too.

So then, because Mraz's label/management notice there is such high a demand they book a couple more shows for him to circle back round to London on his own in Aprilish, while he's still overseas. ALL OF THOSE SOLD OUT TOO!.

To make matters worse, guess who was opening for these few shows? Raul Midon. Whom I ADORE! Yeah, even though I've seen him open for Mraz before, I still would love to see him perform anytime (I may have to settle for his individual show, that he has the following nights, after all Raul and Mraz is great, but Raul is still Raul)

Seriously though, how does a concert in April, for a couple small shows, when he's playing 3 nights in a row at the same venue, sell out in January! Man, Londoners are either fricken Mraz obsesssed, or just really good at planning ahead.

But speaking of Mraz obsessed....I found out the other night (whilst Abby was mocking me takings pics of the Mary Poppins poster in the subway) that Tiffany also is a huge fan of Mraz. (It started with Abby explaining Poppins, and said I had lots of crazy obsessions like Jason and Kelly Clarkson--whom Tiffany also loves). I think she may be my new favorite person here. Last weekend on the way back from Camden Market we had a good talk the whole way back about small towns (she's from Georgia, and has the slightest accent..the cute kind, not the redneck kind) and schools, etc. and music, and just a lot of stuff we seemed to have in common.

And then today, I'm walking through the hallway with my Geek in the Pink shirt on, and as Tiff passed she was like, "OMG! I have this shirt!" Which is actually more significant than just a mere fashion coincidence (since I obviously have none). Since this means, she's been to a Mraz concert. Which means, I definitely could've had a concert buddy this go-round, if only the damn shows weren't sold out!

< /rant >

little html humor for you geeks out there, in normal english this would mean, 'end rant'
