Powdered Criskets
1/21/2006 07:58:00 PM Okay, so tonight Abby and I met up with our next door neighbors, Nohl and Becca, and some other people (the names I can remember are Chris, Lana and Katie -who are roomates, and Maura) and went to eat supper at this pub called the The Metropolitan, or The Metro for short. ![]() It was actually pretty cheap and had decent food. While we were there we didn't really know the proper procedure cause we didn't see any waitresses, so we just kinda went and sat at a table ourselves, which ended up belonging to these 3 British blokes. They weren't upset, but they just asked if they could join us (it was a huge table) and they were actually pretty entertaining. They talked a bit about what we should see in London, and wished us luck before they left (they just finished their drinks). I had myself a proper English meal of Fish & Chips (although I was scolded by bloke #3 for not trying them at a proper fish and chips shop) Ordering it was bad enough though, we had to go to the bar, and I swear I could not understand a word of what the guy was asking me. I didn't think I was too bad with being able to dissect the british accent, but I kept asking him to repeat himself and apologizing. I felt like an idiot. I'll have to work on that. Afterwards, Abby, Becca, Chris, and a crapton of other people all decided that they were going to wakl to Picadilly Circus and go to another pub there. Nohl, Lana, Katie, and I all decided that we wanted to go back to campus and try to rustle up some people to play board games or watch a movie. So we managed to walk back, without getting lost (yay!) and then all went back to our rooms for a bit. Later Nohl grabbed me to go get some chocolate from the vending machine (which was broken...she was about gonna take an axe to it, she really wanted this "Twist" bar cause it was labeled "The Intense Chocolate") so after giving up we decided to walk around the 2nd floor randomly to see if we could find Lana and Katie (who actually live on the 3rd floor) but we did find them in Amanda and Jamie's room, just hanging out talking, and so we sat down and joined, and two other girls Laura and Cynthia came in later and stayed, and then eventually Heidi, and then ..holy crap, I just forgot her name...just was just sitting right here next to me in the lab 10 mins ago...she was at dinner...Christina? I don't know. So this other girl that I met earlier in the evening joined us, cause she hadn't felt like hanging out much with the group at Picadilly. Then we all pretty much just stayed in there laughing and giggling having a girl party. Actually I think the topic of conversation Nohl and I walked into when we found them was Birth Control, so you can imagine the type of Girl's Night it was, with everyone craving chocolate and just being silly sitting around in hoodies and pajama pants. Pretty soon a guy walked by and poked his head in, and tried to make some conversation for a while, but there was just too much estrogen in the room. He at least tried to relate by saying that those 'powdered criskets' everyone was eating were pretty good, but this only enticed us all to laugh at him, as it took a second to realize he was referring to the rice cakes. All in all it was a good night for having absolutely no plans, and just what a few homesick girls needed. But since it is now 2:11am and we are supposed to meet up again for lunch tommorrow, I think I better try and get some rest. Have a good one! |

Get that vending machine fixed fast. I really feel for that girl. I hate it when our vending machine won't take my money.
Sounds like you're having a fun time. That's GREAT!!! So tonight me and my UNL friends when to some music concert thing, and since we figure its a nice event we get super-dressed up for no reason!!! It was great nice shirts and ties for the guys, and skirt for the girl. Then we came back and watched a couple movies. Overall it was a really fun night. I hope that things continue to go well in London. See you for Spring Break!!! Later.
this is super-duper confusing. But that's okay!!
