Keep It on the Up and Up :) 8/21/2005 01:12:00 PM

Lately things have been turning up, in that 'things don't seem so sucky anymore' good kinda way ;)

I think it's because school is just around the corner. I don't know if it makes me a dork to admit, but I've always liked school. Of course, everyone remembers that exciting feeling that they used to have in Elementary when the time would come round to start school again. I think most of that came from the getting new clothes, shoes, the coolest folders, pens, and notebooks that were offered that season. But alas, at these years in my life I'm not surrounded by all that jazz and I still find myself excited for my classes. It's a good feeling though. I'm sure in a few months (or weeks) I'll look back on this post and think, what the heck was wrong with me? But the truth is I like learning. That's why I think I'm interested in the careers that I am, because you have to constantly be learning and keeping up with the game. I don't think I'd be able to handle going into a job where you know exactly what you'll be doing everyday, and everday is the same. While some routines are nice (like getting up and eating breakfast and playing with the ferret at designated times each day) that's not the one for me.

I'm also in a particularly good mood because I got to see the KC put on another great show last night. Sold Out at the Fabulous Fox. It's amazing how the crowds can effect the mood of a show. And her crowds definitely entertain me. I always find it amusing the different groups of people that are drawn to her. To my right I had two 30-40 yr old women, who are co-workers and decided to go to the concert together, in front an Aunt and her 3 nieces (all taking pictures of themselves rather than the show, very cute)to my left a boy my age or younger and his little sister (aww!) and then in the handicapped section ahead of me (my favorite of the night) was this older (probably 60's/70's) african american gentleman. Of course there where also the Dad's who had been suckered into taking their teenage daughter and her friends, as well as the 20's crowd having a drink or two and enjoying themselves, and lastly....the row of 5-6 gay men. (I swear Kelly Clarkson is gaining some of Beyonce and Cher's male demographics) It was so awesome to see so many different people of different ages and backgrounds all enjoying the same music. The coolest thing was seeing the older dude though, (although held back from jumping up and down) rockin' out to songs like "Addicted" and swaying back and forth from the waist up, truly having a great time.

So besides the audience being one of the highlights of the evening, the Graham Colton Band played "The One I Love" by R.E.M....which I LOVED. I love R.E.M. muchly...and also the KC did a cover of Annie Lennox's "Why". Beautiful. She really does have a stunning voice and is so much better live than she could ever be on a recording, with her big rich voice being contained to a little compact disc. Reminded me why I keep going to her shows whenever she's around. At this rate I'm afraid I'll turn into my Brucie teacher, having seen 43 Springsteen concerts by the age of ...what? 45?

Eh, I may go deaf before then from too many live shows. Or die of roof (a.k.a shingles). My aunt has it now, apparently it runs in the family, hahaha.
