One last thought! 1/25/2005 09:48:00 PM

Okay, Fourth and Final!

This should work this time, they both begin with F's so there's a connection.

Okay, I have to shamelessly plug this new "group" thing for Reid and myself in hopes of convincing you to join your blogs, or add them to the group or whatever the hell it is.

But I just pictured how awesome it would be if in like 5-7 yrs, I'm like off in New York or LA working on a film, and I log on to update my blog, and am able to visit all the little blogs in our group and see what any of you may be up to at the moment.

Doesn't that sound neat?

Well--just substitute me for you, and "in New York working on a film" to whatever it is you wish to see yourself doing 5-7 yrs from now. There. Now doesn't that sound neat?

For the last time, I bid you adieu.

(well, not for the last time, just the last time tonight)

Again..I know, I know... 1/25/2005 09:41:00 PM

I'm getting to those damn articles soon enough.

So for my 3rd and final post for the night:

I have a lovely picture and new frame from Christmas sitting on my desk now (thanks to my genius rearranging skills. I like it. It holds the pic of all of Puerto Rico minus Nick and + Arnie and Jody. It's a nice picture. It makes me happy.

That is all.

Oh WAIT!! I watched "My Man Godfrey" today in Film Appreciation, and I liked it.

Now that is all. Except for the fact that Ruth just called me to come smell her couch..its rank, something is wrong there.

Ok, bye.

I'm not lying this time.

I would never lie - I just willfully participate in a campaign of misinformation.

An Update from the end of the hall, here at 3M 1/25/2005 09:32:00 PM

Sorry, but i just skimmed some old posts again, (particularly the "Well, that didn't last long" one) and thought that I'd update you all.

Upon returning from break, Will and I were pleasantly surprised to find our new trash can friend still with us. And I think it's happy here. He (or she...I feel rude, I've never bothered to ask yet) seems to be quite useful so far. At least for my roomate. She prefers to walk to this one, as to avoid passing any other rooms (or living organisms who might transact with her) to get to the other, bigger trash can.

Although, if this trash can indeed becomes a member of the floor he/she will need a proper name soon enough.

You'll have to wait for that for a later update.

Signing Off...Seacrest Out!

I Love Baz Luhrman! 1/25/2005 09:19:00 PM

Hehee...do you think I may have some serious possession issues at this point, when every other post is titled, "I Love..."

But, alas, 'tis true.

The man is a mastermind.

Kristin and I were discussing this at lunch the other day, and consequently HAD to watch Moulin Rouge, and Romeo and Juliet, and listen to Everybody's Free (to wear sunscreen)...the man is a visionary...and so wise...he's like a miniature buddah...covered in hair...

Is it wrong that when I thought about the genius artwork and color he puts into his scenes, I thought of Mary Poppins?

Seriously, do you guys expect any less of me by now? Cause you shouldn't. It should be a rule: EVERYTHING reminds Steph of Mary Poppins.

And somehow my dream of running away with Julie Andrews to the mysterious land of Canada continues to remain prominent. (I still think that post of mine at the beginning of my blog...the worthless long one about nothing...is one of my favorites, and best work of blogging to date)

Anyways, not much new for now. I think I might go through the archives of my blog posts and delete some of the not so cool ones, and retire them to my vault--like Disney--and then I can bring them out 40 years later for a limited time, before allegedly retiring them to the vault once again, forever more. (Seriously...what if I DONT buy the Lion King now. Maybe I dont feel like it. I doubt I'll never be able to get it again....or maybe I'm just being naive)

In all actuality, what I SHOULD be doing is writing my journal entries for class tommorrow...but I don't forsee that in my future. And I've come to be pretty good at using this newfound premonition power of mine.

I love Mrazy Fizzle! 1/21/2005 05:40:00 PM

Okay, so today I was all bored, and stuff, (besides those 20 mins after Reid called when I remembered that I had a 400 wd review/email to send to my teacher at 4:00 which I did get in--at promptly 3:58) but after that I was bored and stuff...and even shut my stereo off, cause i was a tad tired of hearing the same stuff. So, I go check out Jason's site, and see that there's a new song/video on the website. So of course I have to check it out, its called "Gypsy MC" very folksy, but I love it...its like he's rapping to some background music for one of Mr. Burmans flying videos, but I LOVE it. Partially because he sings about and dedicates it to the RKOP people (which would be his fans)...the RKOP stands for Right Kind of Prase, its a message board his fans started, and he sometimes goes and chats with them. I think thats awesome, and it makes me love Mraz more cause I think..awww, hes such a nice careing dude...

http://www.jasonmraz.com/video/MRAZ-GypsyMC-LOW.mov

then I see titles of other songs like, "Geek In Pink" and watch a video of him having a dance off 'disco-style'(or indeed like a geek, because you can tell some of that was choreographed one night up late I'm sure) with a member of Bushwalla on tour, and it makes me laugh my ass off a the dork. It's fricken HILARIOUS!

In other great news... 1/20/2005 02:19:00 PM

I approved the artwork for the DVDs today!

Yay!

I called ProAction Media, to try and get ahold of Jerome (the dude handling my order) and after waiting on hold for about 10 mins (thinking I was gonna get screwed again) heard someone pick up and I was like, "Hi, this is Stephanie Gallaway" and someone shouts, "Stephanie Gallaway!!!!". I appreciated it, but was confused. Apparently when I called (the 2nd time) before Xmas, the receptionist mixed my order info, or contact info rather, with another persons. They had sent the stuff to this other email address, and left a few messages telling them they needed to approve the artwork before the dvds could be duplicated, and finally someone called them really angrily saying, "I'M NOT STEPHANIE GALLAWAY! QUIT CALLING ME!!" So they were happy that I called, and was claiming to be the one and only (as far as I know of). SOOOOO, I corrected my contact info, got the email for the artwork today, just replied with my approval, and the dvds should be done the 26th, and then arrive within a week hopefully. Isn't that nice? :)

Call the "Stephanie Gallaway" person who isn't really Steph Gallaway and ask for Marcy, just to see what happens. After you finish with that, call 0663 and ask for Holly. I'll bet that lady would flip out (she was getting really pissed the last time we did that).

I love Alexander Grahm Belle. His lovely invention made all these strange andentures possible.

I was confused for the longest time. What DVDs is she talking about??? Artwork?? Who is Stephanie?? Then i figured it out. YAY!! Good for you. Glad that you got that taken care of. Talk to you later.

Oh, and WHO IS STEPHANIE???

I'm like a superhero..but without any real powers or motivation 1/19/2005 11:13:00 PM

Okay, so yesterday I was correct. I absolutely hate my Intro to Interactive Media Class. Our teacher quit, so now we're stuck with this guy who actually teaches at a different college, but the problem is, hes old, and really really into video games. And he has the most monotonous voice of any instructor I've ever had. Basically he's like a future version of CJ, if Ceej decided to become a professor.

Yeah, so the whole class he's talking to two other nerds about video games the whole time, and how were going to learn about video games, and how we'll have a big final project where we create a video game.

I hate this. This is not what I signed up for. I could handle doind some Animation and crap, but seriously, there IS more to Interactive Media than VIDEO GAMES...seriously, I would even gladly spend another 8 weeks with HTML...at least then I could teach myself, and not have to listen to this nerd.

Sooooo.....today I was really nervous for my Audio Production Class. I got there, and our class is in a studio (cool, but made me more nervous with all the consoles and thousands of buttons that I have no idea about what they do at all). We are all waiting outside for the teacher to get there, and I'm even more intimidated cause there are only 2 chicks (including myself) and all these dudes who all look like their in bands, and audio majors who already know everything about everything. But when the teacher got there he started talking and I was instantly at ease. He is so cool. He was handing out books and "shitloads" of stuff and decided to tell us all about his philosophy about the English Measurement System. He thinks there should everything should only come in 2 units of measurement. 1) Shitloads--everything comes in shitloads. ex: Man, I had to haul a shitload of that in here, or Last night I went out and spent a shitload, or Wow, thats a shitload of papers..you get the idea, and 2)everything but shit is a shitload...shit would be measured in buttloads. Anyways, he seems to have a pre-occupation with Nazis and Germans as well (he is german), but he noticed someone's armband that said there is always time for peace, and said that he wanted one with a swastika that said Bush above it, and went into how it doesnt matter how the election turned out, as long as you voted then its all good, "unless you voted Republican, then F*ck You", haha. Then later calling role he noticed alot of german names, and was like, "Holy crap, there's a shitload of nazis in here". It was great. So we start going through the syllabus and there's a line that says "Students learn and are tested on the theories underlying the art and science of audio production"--his response was "Who knows what the f*ck that means" and told us not to worry about whats on the syllabus, cause he just puts shit on there to make the college happy, the only things that are certain with correct dates are the exams, which wont be too bad, he'll take us into Studio A (a small one) and ask us a few questions like what's our favorite color--or about the equipment, and if its too bad, just give him $50 bucks and he'll lay off.

Pretty cool guy. Something I love about the teachers here at Webster, they're awesome. Not just cause their normal, but because they are all professionals and still working in the field that they teach. Like, our textbook for this class is actually written by one of the other Audio Professors here at Webster, and another Bill Porter is like a legend. He was the first guy inducted in the Hall of Fame for audio pr Heoduction. He worked alot with Elvis, Roy Orbison, Louis Armstrong..blah blah, lots of legends themselves, and a neat (and true) fact about him is that Elvis's only #1 songs were ones he recorded with Bill Porter..any that were done with someone else never reached #1 so thats awesome. He's had (Porter, not Elvis) 600 hit records...so that's pretty awesome. Stuff like that just makes me love this school even more. Even if I'm not an audio major working with these teachers alot.

Although..we started going around class, and saying our names/majors, and there are only 3 audion majors in there, haha. The rest are film/video like me, and its a required class...although I AM interested in it. But that also made me feel more at ease. I even learned (while someone was talking about their film inpirations/idols) that some graduates from Webster actually did some of the scenes for a few of the movies some guy mentioned. I forgot the director he was working with, but it was a big one, haha. I suck at directors names..I was just talking to my mom about this when my Aunt Cathy was kicking my ass at Scene It, cause she knew directors. Also, the downfall of me in Film Appreciation where the instructor told us for a fact that we will have to know the director and lead actor/actress from every movie we watch for the exams.

Oh yeah, did I talk about my Film Appreciation teacher at all? He's awesome too. He's worked for CBS for 15 years in New York, and another 10 in LA, and all that jazz. The crazy thing is when we're watching a film and he starts talking about the actress. That would be perfectly normal except for the fact that his stories about them being in his living room or etc. having dinner, cause he's also been a publicist, and is still a reviewer for nationwide theater, and a critic for the River Front Times (RFT is based here in STL)The other thing I like about that class is that every time we watch a film, we get handed a copy of the original review from the New York Times, as well as the front page of the Times from that date, just to see what was going on in the world...which is pretty damn cool, when its from a 1924 edition of the Times.

So basically, so far, my only complaint is about my Interactive Media class. We'll see how Video Production goes this afternoon :)

Oh yeah, and since this was all kind of boring stuff about me and my classes, here are some things to look at that might entertain you:

Heehee, I'm such a loser, but you know you love it...really 1/18/2005 09:26:00 PM

Okay...I'm gonna say something..just put it out there...and I'm about 72% Holly and possibly Charley as well, will be mad at me. Scratch that, Holly will be mad, Charley will be jealous but get over it... (Gah! I can't believe you guys are still talking about Saturday!!!!)..so here it is.

I get to see Modest Mouse in concert on Feb.28th at The Pageant

For those of you who dont know, Modest Mouse is a kick ass band, and The Pageant is a kick ass club here in the Loop.

So I got back last night, and apparently I was like the last one back, and everyone was like, FINALLY! Steph's here! and it made me feel loved...like I was the missing piece of the 3M puzzle that would never be able to be finished without it.

So I met the new boy, Zane's new roomate replacing Tommy, and we all watched Anchorman in my room. It was nice. Best part was when Lacey came in during the end credits, and sees Will Ferrell saying the line about San Diego, which in German means whale's vagina..and she goes, "REALLY!?" hahaha, oh lacey...poor girl is even in Spanish..SO fricking hilarious though if you were there.

Then, we all talked about how a girl next door to my room (of which the two occupants we never ever saw, and sometimes completely forgot were on our floor--it didnt help that their the last room at the end of the hall)anyways, one of them left, and we were supposed to be getting a "Heather" in her place. People kept saying that they swear they saw her, or that someone said they saw her, so she was kind of like an Urban Legend, and I told her that today when we finally met her in the elevator. She seems nice. Although, we heard Rachel (the other girl, her roomate) talking loudly and laughing with her so it seems like they get along which is bad for us, cause apparently Rachel hates us..I dont know Ive seen her like 2 times ever, she always hangs out on the 1st floor.

Then today, I had my first class, Film Appreciation, and already the class is working. Today we watched a silent film called "Sherlock, Jr" with Buster Keaton, a revolutionary actor, way better than Charlie Chapman, even though the two were of equal fame at the time, and Charlie remains the better known. Anyways, I HATE silent films, but this was was truly great. Especially in what they did with it, without any special effects or stuntmen, so I did find a new found appreciation for these films. Back to the Stuntmen for a second, our teacher got mad because in the Aviator (a film about Howard Hughes the amazing pilot and for which during the original film 3 men died, trying to get the shots they needed, and for this one, they just said, oh dont film that, we can do that in the editing room....so I wasnt really sure that he wasnt upset that actors/stuntmen no longer have to risk their lives, or just that these days, nothing amazes you anymore. You never come out of theater wondering, "How'd they do that!?", the mystery of it all is gone.)

Anyways, I come home, go get tickets with Will,Ruth,Sam, and Lacey, and while were in the Loop hit up a few shoe stores for Will, although he did finally buy a pair so it was worth it. Came home, ate with Will and Ruth, and while we were at the Gorlock Grill American Idol came on, so of course we started watching it. Came home to the dorms, and Lacey, Kristin, and Liz, all joined, and then somehow we moved to Ruths room, since she has more seating, and Will came, and watched his 2ND EVER!! episode of American Idol. Unfortunately I think hes also hooked now. It's so dangerous to ever watch, because you can never escape it...its horrible.

And then after the whole American Idol thing, I had to watch these live sessions vids on Vh1.com of Kelly Clarkson, which are fricken awesome. There are like 4 songs and they're all acoustic! Which is fricken awesome (Since You Been Gone is kinda wierd, but I love, Because of You, and Behind These Hazel Eyes). As much as I love hearing all the guitars and drums and her rocking out on the album (Hear Me, at AOL Sessions is a good one to see more of that), I think I like these versions even more...I'm a sucker for acoustic stuff...it makes me want to hear her sing country. There's time. She's young. I'll give her about 5 more years to rock out, and then she can go back to R&B big voiced diva Celine-Dion-songs, as she ages, and then about 5 to 10 years after that, she can go all Sheryl Crow-suddenly-I'm-a-country-singer...although she is originally from Texas, so it would fit better than it does with Sheryl. And then, there will be a big show/party thing honoring Reba McEntire, as she finally retires, and Kelly can be one of the many performers covering her songs at the show in her honor. Along with Martina McBride, and some other young pop/country starlets that will be popular at the time. But no Kid Rock (seriously, who got the idea for him to sing at the thing for Elton John? that was just wierd hearing him singing an Elton song)

Yeah, that was way too much of me giving into "fantasy Steph" where I just live in my own little world (which I do most of the time, but just not telling you stuff like this, or writing it in my blog)

Oh yeah, also, something else you should all know, I just brought up the most amazing (or if I'm sticking with my apparent phrase of the moment) fricken awesome, thing. I got this bag of "Mix-Ups" out of the vending machine, and it is totally kick ass...(definitely been around Lacey too much already) It has chewy Shocker minis, chewy SweetTarts, and chewy Sprees, all together in a bag...its awesome. And I just thought I needed to inform you all of that.

So now I'm off to look at E!'s best and worst dressed at the Golden Globes...maybe I'll have more on that later. And tommorrow I have Intro to Interactive Media, so we'll find out if that is to be my loathed class this semester. For now, thanks for stopping by...(gah!)

You are such a loser, you have your own fantasy world, where you decide when artists whill be playing a certain type of music, wow!?!? Sorry, you're not a loser, just a socially deprived individual. Hopefully you'll have fun at the concert. I can already tell that you're going to enjoy your classes for a while, but you will return to the point where you really want to come home. What is the new guy like? Is he crazy? That would be cool, crazy people are always fun. (That's the reason we keep you around.) Well, that's all for now. Keep it real. Irish Midget.

I no longer have any doubt in my mind that Jason Mraz is my lobster 1/09/2005 01:10:00 PM

and don't go given me that whole, "You have like 50 lobsters, Steph". Yes, well, there is a lobster for everything. Jason Mraz is my musician lobster, Damien Fahey is my cute boy lobster, Will Ferrell is my humor-god lobster, and Conan O'Brien is my your-so-strange-but-I-love-you lobster.

Anyways, to prove my original point, here are some pieces of recent journal entries that I submit as evidence. (Seriously any man who mentions Mary Poppins as much as I do, and ALSO admits to wanting to be her deserves a spot on my lobster list)

yeah, I guess my alterior motive with this post was to just post anything, so Reid and Holly cant yell at me to update my blog, so I did so by posting pieces from someone else's. But I enjoyed these pieces. As I do Jason Mraz and his music. I'm so glad Lacey doesnt read my blog ;)

Thanks for stopping by San Diego...stay classy.

I have an evil plan... 1/07/2005 06:47:00 PM

and I want to tell someone...but I cant, because most of you will be subjects of my evil plan...heehee.

As I type I am emailing the evidence to myself, so I will be able to access it from my home.

Because right now I am at the Internet Center, surrounded by Ann, Maggie, and Reid.

And some Junior High freaks.

That was mean.

They're not freaks.

Their just normal Junior Highers...at which age most are freakish.

Somehow that doesnt seem any nicer.

Maggie is now talking about chickens, asses, and foul (kinda the same as chicken, but not quite..actually I believe chicken is a classification of foul, which was discovered by the Germans in 1919...they called it "chicken" which in German means "Kelly Clarkson's ass"---actually tangent...on the radio the other day they were talking to some dude who owns some cafe, anyways, Kelly and her momma and her brother came in after the orange bowl gig, and apparently this loser found it appropriate to name the meatball sandwhich the "Kelly Clarkson"----oh yeah, and another tanget..I downloaded the orange bowl performances and some mentions the day after on tv shows etc....and WOW! Was I not paying any attention at all? Problem: Kelly Clarkson's Mic was turned off, and Ashlee Simpson's was turned on. Holy crap she sounded terrible. Much worse when I listened to her the 2nd time...instead of just making fun of her and her humpy dance on the guitarist that replaced the hoe down. I would've felt bad for the brat for being booed had she not done more interviews using excuses again. I could see if she wouldve said, that she was having sound problems, and explained that none of her, Trace, and the meatball queen had no sound or instrument whatsoever coming through their earpieces=that could be a reason for being off pitch and singing in the wrong key..anyone remember Pink at the Grammies...poor girl..stupid technichians...anyways, instead she just claims that they weren't booing her, but rather the whole halftime show. Either she's really ignorant or just plain stupid to believe the lies I'm sure everyone around her is telling her. Maybe if she goes blonde again and leaves the music to the singers and musicians people would like her. She seemed to do fine with the acting thing. Better than her sister anyways. Although I do think part of the booing wasnt all her fault. I'm sure some were for the sound problems, some were from people who didnt pay to see Ashley and paid to see football, and some were from the drunk men who came to a game only to get girly pop-rockers as entertainment. Seriously now, Jojo, Kelly Clarkson, and Ashlee Simpson? What are they doing there? At least Paul McCarney has been booked for the Superbowl. Hopefully the ex-Beatle will have more success. And hopefully he wont have any wardrobe malfunctions. ....I think that has been a long enough of a tangent..especially a tangent off of another tangent...and one within parenthesis at that)

Greetings From Outer Space.....or the Inner Space rather...of Steph 1/06/2005 01:55:00 AM

Maybe it was the deep lyrics of Muse pouring from my stereo, or the thoughts of my last week here approaching that started those turntables in my head a-spinnin (wait—I’m not a disc jockey)…it must have been the mixture of too much jazz and liquor (okay, nor am I Roxy Hart) BUT for some reason I started thinking about how I would soon be returning to my now “normal” life, where I am poor, yet learning, and living on my own (kinda), and how much I love these little vacations to Puerto Rico (the one located in central Nebraska). Each time I come back is like an escape from “the real world” and I return to the place where you can go sledding in June, play board games until 2:30, or throw silly parties with balloons, streamers, fish with hats, and fake jello shots and spray cheese (not together of course), and then walk out to your car to find it covered in seran-wrap...I know your out there....somewhere...or even go to Six Flags for 2 rides, or coerce your compadres to going to unmentionable concerts (yes plural) or answer the phone when those friends call from said concert(s)--- Anyways, the thoughts comforted me as I almost started drifting to sleep (as if Mary Poppins herself were singing me a lullaby) and I thought how wonderful it is that I’ll always be able to come back and take a break from reality and just spend time with friends.

Though the reality is, I won’t always be able to. That thought kept me awake, and now typing here. Everyone knows how hard it is to get the few current collegiates together as is, but what happens when the rest of the gang is off to their respective cities as well? What will become of this comfort bubble? Sure we can all keep in touch and have the occasional reunion (which will be awesome, I promise you—better than the high school kind), but will we ever be able to go back to Puerto Rico? And though we’ll always have the photos and souveniers (hey, I’m not admitting to stealing anything from anybody) will the memories and feelings begin to fade like the pictures of booty once plastered to a locker door? One can hope not…after all, the song goes, “there is no arizona” I remember nothing about foreign countries that exist within state borders..let alone cafeterias.

Although not even a 3rd of my life is lived yet (keepin my fingers crossed...who knows how many campers and camper stories lie ahead of me), and I have no idea why I feel so nostalgic this fine mourn (and yes it is morning considering it is now 12:29 am) I believe that the last few years are amongst some of the greatest in my life. And I have you lovely people reading this to thank for that (Yes, even those parents who randomly pop in..and more folks who don’t read…and less that do, but don’t know me). Wow, what a post eh? Crazy like an Irish fruitloop...

Steph, did you happen to read my blog before you wrote this?? If not, that is really freaky and you should go read my blog. I'm glad that i could be a part of some of your greatest years. I hope that all of us will be able to get together in the future, but who knows what lies ahead. I hope that we have many great memories still to shair, more pictures to be taken, and many souveniers to be gained. But if nothing else we will always have the past and all of the great times that it holds. Memories are irreplacable like Korean cornflakes.
