Halloween Weekend 10/31/2004 05:21:00 PM

Wow, so this weekend was pretty boring. I even decided to try and learn how to use the publishing program I have on my laptop, instead of pining over the fact that I have no micrografx (I miss it so).

So I did a few little odd jobs here and there to save me from my boredom, whilst learning this new program. Not quite up to my usual standards, but this program sucks. (Oh yeah, and I guess Maggie is my new Capri)

Yeah, so now you can tell exactly HOW bored I was this weekend without a fun Halloween party thrown by the one and only "Harley" to attend.

And just because I found them, and feel like reminicsing (I had to show Ruth the originals to try and explain why I was putting my friends face on a J2K poster...

As we're gettin in the car, Brittney runs up the hill... 10/31/2004 01:39:00 AM

"Hey, Brittney, are you coming?"

"Where are you guys going?"

"To the Rocky Horror Picture Show"

"You guys are goin to a picture show? *confuzeled*"

So yes, tonight I went with Kristin, Tommy, Ruth and her little brother Harrison to see the Rocky Horror Picture show, which is actually quite different than my only experience of watching it on VH1 (hey, at least Ive seen it more times than Brittney = 0 ) considering we were in a theater, and there were people acting out the characters/parts down on the stage below the screen.

It was actually pretty cool. Audience participation is like the main part of the movie. During the entire thing their are (what I assume) rehearsed anwswers (from people who have gone to these things way too many times) that they shout out during the film.

For Example: During the first scene at the wedding, right before the bride throws the bouquet, everyone shouts, "Who's got syphilis, who's got syphilis?" and Susan Surandon's character catches the bouquet and shouts, "I've got it!"

or like when Brad and Janet go into the castle after being outside in the rain, the audience shouts, "Haha, Janet's on the rag!!!" right before Tim Curry puts rags on both Brad and Janet's heads to dry them off, then the someone shouts, "No, the rags on Janet"

or when he hands them robes and says, "Here this will make you feel less...(and pauses) audience shouts, "Naked?" and he finishes "...Vulnerable" and audience responds, "Same thing!".

And lots of wierd random things of that humor. But it was definitely intersting. I should take you all sometime, this theater shows it 4 times a month.

It sounds like a lot of fun. It's good that you were able to do something exciting so you didn't feel too bad about not being at the Holloween party. Which, by the way, was a lot of fun. I even got a trophy!!! Keep it real. Irish Midget.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news... 10/29/2004 10:41:00 AM

So I wont.

I'll just list my lame excuses instead:

I'm trying to become more effecient in my new college life, and this means, wiser money management, and trying to rid myself of those lovely procastination skills I picked up Senior Year.

I have $200 left in my account, almost approximately the amount it would take just to make a trip to LC and back.

I also have a schedule in my planner that looks like this:

Psychology
2nd half of Psych Exam

Writing
Read "Politics and the English Language

Brucie Class
Read Bruce Sprinstein (Bio) - Dave Marsh 227-417
Bruce's America - Robert Coles to p.158
Major Paper - 2000 wrds, 10 sources
-make flyers announcing Dave Marsh coming to campus to talk

Mass Communications
Position Paper - 5to7 pgs

Please Don't Kill Me.... :(

*edited

If it makes you feel better I totally biffed it on the stairs rushing off to class right after I wrote this. I guess I didn't see the yellow cuidado sign the janitor put out while he was mopping the stairways...

Steph, I'm not upset at you (if anyone else is I don't know) At least you come home as often as possible. I wish you could be at the Holloween Pary. I'm sure it would be even more fun if you were there. I'm looking forward to seeing you when you do come. Keep it real. Irish Midget.

I'm having a great day! 10/27/2004 10:59:00 AM

Okay, so this morning I actually woke up before my alarm clock (even though it was to the sound of construction work outside my window). Which is nice, if any of you get the same feeling of dread, when you are thrust from slumber by some terrible noise, and only wish for 10 more minutes of sleep. Anyways, my point in this is that it is so much easier to get up and shower when you wake up naturally and are READY to get up, rather than forced to.

So then I go to Psychology, and am slightly dissapoined (and kinda freaked out, since I just discussed this with Charley) when we pop in a Phillip Zimbardo tape--not just Phillip Zimbardo, or Phillip Zimbardo with a very crookedly/uneven shaved goatee (which I noticed within the first 10 secs), BUT, Phillip Zimbardo and the "Developing Child"! Yes, this means I had to watch a baby, and all the nastiness, being pulled from the womb (which we also saw lots of) A-GAIN!

But I was pleased that I actually found myself being able to avoid the traps of boredom and dream-land, to midly pay attention in class.

Then I was pleasantly surprised as I was walking to my next class (Writing) to see a classmate (well, I didnt see her, she startled me from my book about how to write proper english, that I was re-scanning while walking to class since none of it obviously stuck the first time) Anyways, she told me that class was cancelled, and that there was a note on the door that she didnt see untill she had already sat there 15 mins and no teacher showed. (She goes early cause shes a commuter, and parking spots are really really really hard to find)

So I turn and walk with her, back towards main campus (my Writing Class is in one of the houses) so along the way, we calmly deliver the message to all our classmates we encounter, so soon there is just a big group of almost our entire class, walking down the street like some gang, and another classmate, Bree, is walking on the other side of the street and fails to look up as we try to get her attention. Finally she crosses, and looks up as she almost walks into the mob, and starts to wave (because of course she knows us, and thats something you do when you see someone you know in passing) and then she stops, and realizes that it is our entire Writing class, and is like, "Do we have a field trip?"....sorry, if you were there it was just really funny.

So anyways, I have no class, and i dont have to work tonight because I worked for Jiwana Monday, so the day is going great so far. Except, now, this means that I have time to finally unpack from fall break, so I will have to do that.

But I was in such a great mood as I walked into the room, I thought that updating you guys on my delightful dipostition seemed more fun first. Now I can go clean. That's all :)

I'm glad you were having a great day! Did it get better or worse as the day progressed? I hope you have more great days. I think everyone should be entitled to atleast 300 great days a year. You need some crapy days to realize how great the great days truely are. At the time you wrote this blog my day seemed to be going downhill, but now it seems to be a great day. (Thanks for your part of that.)I hope that everyone else has a great day.

Kayla and I are not insane! 10/25/2004 08:39:00 PM

You'll see where I'm going with this in a bit...but first:

So today I'm walking home from work and this dude is like joggin up to me...he was wearing this like white jump suit thingy so I thought he was jogging...but he was following me. Finally he and his white jumper thingy catch up to me, and he's like, "I thought that was your ponytail" and I stared at him like, "Who the hell are you?" but I didn't say that. I waited untill he got this really confused look on his face which turned to embarassement, and answered, "Nope, guess not", and laughed, and then he was like, "Well, pretty close though", and I laughed again...then I walked away, and glanced at my Ferret Calendar that I was carrying back to my dorm, and laughed some more.

So now I'm watching the RMA's and Big & Rich just performed---wow, they really suck live....and now Gretchen Wilson...she was better...Oooh! Nelly coming up! Kelly Clarkson's on now...WITH UNCLE KRACKER!? Oh yeah, and on the subject of Nelly and Kelly (not Rowland, although, how long has it been since I heard "Dilemma"? I love that song) apparently Kayla and I aren't the only ones who think the Tim McGraw/Nelly song is addicting...I swear there must be subliminal messages in it or something, because I love it too much...it even made me wonder if a Missy Elliot/Reba McEntire song could be good.

Ummm, anyways...cant believe I admitted that, haha...I also wonder if any of you ever click on my stupid links....if you dont, at least go take a gander at the "Stewart/MadTv" skits...those are worth it. Oh yeah, and the Ashley Simpson one.

Heehee, intersting qoute from an interview Ashlee Simpson did with Lucky Magazine not long ago...

From Lucky Magazine interview:

LM: What are your takes on lip-synching?

Ashlee: I'm totally against it and offended by it. I'm going out to let my real talent show, not to just stand there and dance around. Personally, I'd never lip-synch. It's just not me.

So anyways--I missed the rest of the RMA's cause I had to go to a movie for class, so I never did hear about how Ashley did (or what she did).

So the movie I had to go see was "Saw"...not really as scary as it looks on TV...it seems as though it'd be really gory etc. but it has Danny Glover in it, and is more of a psychological thriller...it just tries to scare you by making you think something is gonna happen. Ex: a guy is in his apartment with no power and hears noises, he grabs his camera near him, goes exploring, taking pictures so the flash lights up the room every now and then...of course almost everytime the guy took a photo, some chick in the back would scream, even though nothing happens. This caused many people to laugh throughout this entire segment :)

Not next week, but the week after, we get to go to another one (Mass Communications class) but I have no idea which.

Plus in Psychology, I have an assignment to go to a toy store and examine 2 toys of my choice.

Did I mention how fun homework can be?

Actually its not so great lately. Somehow, I managed to accomplish absolutely nothing while I was home (well, on the homework front anyways)...imagine that. So I have a major paper due Nov. 4th which I havent started, and exam Friday, another major paper due like the following Tuesday...and I have to work for Jiwana this week(without being able to take my laptop with me-due to my uber-genius and perfectly non-clumsy past actions) and am now wondering how in the ____ I'm going to get this all done. I also will not get paid for another week, (if they ever do pay me)and have $200 left, $98 of which will be spent on my book for my new Fall 2 class (Intro to Media Production). So I'm thinking that somebody really doesnt want me to go home this weekend. I know if I go there's no way any homework will get done, since most of my time will be spent driving, but I'm not giving up hope yet. We'll have to see how productive I can be this week. Don't lose faith just yet ;)

OMG!!! I cant believe we missed this!!! 10/25/2004 01:30:00 PM

HILARIOUS!!

Okay, so remember Saturday when we saw Ashlee Simpson apologizing at the end of SN(and were lost since we muted the tv for the 2nd performance)?

Yeah, so here's the video of what happened.Ashlee SNL

When she said "sorry, my band started playing the wrong song", I guess that meant, sorry, I dont sing live, and SNL played the Pieces of Me vocals again, even though I already did that song, so my band started to save my ass by playing that song instead of Shadow, and I danced around like an idiot, instead of just singing, or stopping the band, and walked off the stage. The I decided to throw them under the bus and blame them for the mishap afterwards"

So sad, but funny. She is getting absolutely roasted out there. So far I've heard reports of the anchors on CNN laughing at her and the anchors at FOX News making fun of her by lip-synching the news. The male anchor actually read the segment and the female anchor just lipped along with it.

On my local radio station, late last night the DJ introduces the song La La by saying "here's Ashlee Simpson live, maybe, with La La". And they've been ripping her all morning on the morning show. She's supposed to sing live tonight at the Radio Music Awards too.....These will probably be the highest rated RMAs in years. I wonder if she'll show, especially since I haven't seen her featured in the ads since she decided to hoe-down. Hmmmm, Kelly Clarkson is supposed to be there, maybe they'll pull a thing like they did with Whitney Houston/Faith Hill at the Oscars, and have her sing instead.....okay probably not, but I would like it :) (if your interested here's her "God Bless America" LIVE, and acapella, from the World Series. They didnt put Steven Tyler's Star Spangled Banner Up yet though...I guess he messed up the words and folks weren't too happy about that...)

ANYWAYS...that's what they get for having someone who doesnt sing live on Saturday Night LIVE...

Hmmmm, to hear about why Maggie is insane, read a comment about it on Kayla's blog here.

And if you want to hear about how fun my first few days of Fall Break were, you should read the entry to Kayla's blog to which my comment is posted in response too. She did a good job of summing it up. So you can read it there.

I miss golf.

Golf Withdrawals? 10/11/2004 04:00:00 PM

For some reason lately, I've REALLY been missing Golf. Today, I just had like an "attack" where I desperately suddenly wanted to go golfing...or even just hold a club in my hand....what? It's not like I stopped and "pretended" that I did, and took a practice swing...just for the feel of it....

Anyways, then I was watching Monster Garage w/Jessie James turning a camper into moving skate ramp for Tony Hawk, and it made me terribly miss Pandy, and the Physics class as a whole...

Maybe I'm spiraling into a depression after the realization that I dont get to see everyone for a while :(

Some People Want It All 10/09/2004 10:47:00 PM

But I don't...want nothin' at alll....

I just wanna watch the people that want it all...like Alica Keys for example (in case you didnt catch that ^^)...or the people that auditioned for Webster Idol...

So I just got back from Webster Idol (and if the subject title, and opening line tell you anything, you may guess that someone sang that song, and now its in my head--if you didnt recognize that those were lyrics from a song, and that what I just explained would naturally be something Steph would do, then why am I your friend? Okay, since I'm assuming the only one who didn't know...I'll address her: Because you have red hair...wait it could be two people...for the other one: because you have a car that has been trash-bagged, and tin-foiled)

Okay, back to the original story.

It was actually really really cool. Not like a lame talent show at all. Of course there was a stage, and an audience, but they had two big screens on the sides of the stage, where they broadcast a "Webster Idol" Logo, very similar to that of American, and then during the performances they even did the lame/Idol shots (Kayla, you know the ones I'm talking 'bout, rememeber when I mentioned that they even did it at the concerts...where there's a close-up frontal shot, and then in the upper left (or right) corner, a mid/long profile, or just other shot) Yeah, so that was cool. And they had the 3 judges, big black dude as Randy, Libby the cool RA from the 4th floor as Paula --even had her cool Paula (or Janet) hat---, but a girl with dark hair, and no british accent, as Simon. Seriously, any accent woulda made the comments so much funnier.

So 2 girls sang Martina songs, "Broken Wing" and "How Far" <-- on that one I was so frightened for the girl, I was like, oh crap, either she's not gonna hit those notes and really embarass herself, or she's gonna over-do it and sound Clay Aiken-ish...but she actually wasnt so bad, she kinda hit them good enough, but couldnt hold them as long as in the original song, which was good, and took away from the Clayken appeal. Although there were some jokes made to a comedian-guy who looked like a geek, and Simon referenced Clay, and Paula said that the staff could get at him and do wonders just like that other skinny dorky guy who they think they made look hot....well, it worked for Julie I guess...

Yeah, so the 2 Martina girls ended up in the top 3, along with a 40-ish ex-Marine black chick, who was awesome, girl had soul.

And while the votes were tallied they explained to us that neither of the past 2 winners (this is the 3rd annual Webster Idol) BUT they did get the 1st runner up, a guy named ...Uh I forgot...but he was like the Justin Guarini of this shin-dig OOH-- Curtis from Philly. Interestingly enought the same place as Guarini..hmmm, curious...very cuuurrrious --if you couldn't tell just then I was saying that in a British accent like the dude who runs the Wand-Store in Harry Potter...no one remembers that qoute...? Okay, proceeding... HE WAS THE SHIZZLE, FOR RIZZLE Y'ALL! He did an original song, and then (like all Idols) covered some song (I forgot which one) but I dont really care...cause he blew the roof off (which is hard to do, we were in a Gym...thats a big heavy roof...) I think he couldve wiped the floor with some of the people that are really on Idol, dead serious. He played the keyboard too, but it was one of those big, fancy, schmancy, ones, that sounded like a Grand Piano, it was awesome. The whole place was dead quite, and you could hear the echoing of the keys, it was great.

The 40 yr old won, and I dont know how happy she is that she won a music video produced by Gorlock TV...dont know how much that'll help her...but its still neat. I would want a music video...

Okay, while my interest in this blog update is waning, I'm gonna look for an example of those cheesy shots, so you can actually picture it...I'm sorry, but I desperately want you to understand....

Wow, this is hard....I've looked at TONS of Idol sites already, and nothing...these people suck at getting good screencaps...no they only want ones without the superimposed images...youd think they'd love a screencap with two of their Idol in it...I'm trying to get a good JPL one for Kayla...

If I have to I may resort to going to a Clay site....

Oh God...I've been to like 8 already...this is a hard task...

Finally (I wouldnt think I'd ever say that after finding a Clay picture) a real crazed fan, with thousands of pics had some...

This is the effect they used...

Oh Dear God...Look what I found in the process...and look at that smile on her face! Please tell me that's a more of a grimace...

I thought the day had come when I'd forgotten about the Independent Tour...

He's just such a dork....Oh well, I'll just think about that Curtis guy and it will make everything better.

....But You Don't Know My Name....round and round and round it goes...but will you ever know....

(If those two people are lost again...Will you ever Know?)

Hey Steph I'm glad you had fun at Webster Idol. But i have a question, how did you come all the way to Loup City help decorate someone's car, and still get back to see Webster Idol? You must be fast. Anyway i think you did a marvelous job decorating, but the decorations had to come off because they were blowing in the wind, so all we have are crappy night pics, :( ...Keep it real. I also forgot... 10/08/2004 10:17:00 PM

Today was kinda just "blah" weather with some sprinkling, and dampness, that kinda reminded me of home for some reason.

I dont know why but, today near the dorms the smell reminded me of "Golf"...maybe they use the same kinds of fertilizers, or who knows what..but it made me sad. Kayla, next time I'm home we're so going golfing.

Then, to make things worse, on my way to class, there's a path that goes through some trees, and there were lots of damp, orange leaves on the ground, in a kind of forrest-y feeling area, and I started having flashbacks from Districts in North Platt (well, more like when we went to practice in that hell hole). And even though I was longing for Golf, I still held hostile feelings for North Platte...but if I had to Golf there or nowhere at all, I think I would do it again......ehhhh, maybe....maybe not.....I dont want to jump into a hasty decision there, but....okay, lets just be grateful, that that isnt the only Golf Course on Earth, and I dont have to make that decision.

Oh yeah, and I didnt end up at the Debate tonight. Will left without me (he called, but I was sleeping, and thought he was Ruth, so I ignored him), and so I was gonna go on my own, but there was construction going on through some of the main roads I'd need to take to get there, and I didnt really feel in the mood to take some detours and get lost...So I didnt't. But I did watch it on T.V. so it was okay.

Yet another drug reference in Mass Communications... 10/08/2004 01:01:00 PM

HELLO EVERYONE!!

How are you my darlings? I feel as if I havent spoken to you in AGES!

So the other day in class my crazy teacher told me I have cool glasses. It made me smile. Then someone asked if we were to expect a mid-term in this class before Fall Break, and her response was "Put the crack pipe down children! No! There will be no mid-term! Not in this class buddy".

I think she was having too much fun that day though, because one of the students was in a car accident, so we were recording the class for him (just audio), so she wanted someone to tell some funny jokes, and then started slapping the table (with her rings on her hands) and was like, "Hey look everyone, Carol can tap-dance...Justin I can't believe your missing this! OH MY GOD! Carol put your clothes back on!"

She's funny though. It makes class interesting.

On another note, which may be somewhat intersting to you--or not, I'm going to go watch John Kerry speak in Forrest Park tonight, Ruth had 4 tickets, so I get to go :) And then tommorrow night I think I will go watch, Webster Idol, which sounds promising (riiiggghht...) The difference is, for Webster Idol, its not just singing, you could play an instrument...show off a talent...make jokes...or even just juggle.

So maybe tommorrow I will have a full update for you, but untill then....you stay classy bloggers!

(I cant wait till Anchorman is released on video)

OH MY GOD!! 10/03/2004 11:32:00 PM

Dudes, I totally just discovered the coolest thing in the world. Abby (across the hall--16 yr old genius)just got a package from her brother, and it had this nintendo Donkey Kong Game, and its like Dance Dance Revolution, but with bongos, its so awesome! Simply put, it rocks my bubble.

You like hit the bongos on the beat with the music, and it has really cool songs, like, We Will Rock You, The Impression That I Get (knock on wood--you band geeks should know this song), and like The Mario Brothers Theme, The Locomotion, just a whole freaking kareoke load. Its awesome. Did I already say that?

Sorry Reid, this glorious discovery is what kept me glued across the hallway without warning you that I was gone.

Friday, I think I already emailed all of you about the Snucks/Requiem for a dream thingy, and Zane eating all the listerine strips, and Ruth and her glow sticks, so...

Saturday, went and saw Shaun of the Dead with Ruth, Zane, Tommy, and Ivan, and it was awesome. Seriously, HILARIOUS movie. The previews do it absolutely no justice, its so much better.

And on the way home, Abby called, and was mad that we went without her, so she demanded we bring her and Brittney a slurpie back to make up for our wrong doing, and we were gonna stop at a 7-11 on our way home, but no, Zane had to whine that it wasnt OUR 7-11 so we had to go out of our way, to get the slurpies.

Today, Will, Lacey, Emily, and I went to a Jazz Concert, which was pretty cool. This old hippy dude was like reading poetry as the band played, it was neat. And then when I came home, Tommy and I watched the Simple Life (like almost the whole first season) for a couple hours, so that wasted the rest of my day. And then I was talking to Reid online, and Tommy came back and decided he wanted to watch the beginning of Bring It On, with the dream segment, and then he was tired of that, so then I go back to my computer and was like, ooh Holly's on, so I chit-chat with her abit, (again kinda forgetting about Reid), and then Tommy comes back jumping around with Tomb Raider 2, so we watch that, and I again forget about Reid, then thats over, and I get back on, and Reid yells at me for a bit, and then decides he may forgive me, and Kayla gets on, and I start to chat with her (ignoring Reid again).

Then I hear Ruth yelling at me from across the hall, that I NEED to come play this awesome game with her, so I get up and leave (forgetting about Reid yet again--and also Kayla) and the RA comes to yell at us, since @ 11:00 'quiet hours' go into effect. But lest you forget, that one of the RA's we have is Katie (who was on the Gorlock Channel playing Dance Dance Revolution --if you remember she is also the one who made the nast Kool-Aid with the stolen sugar packets from the Cafeteria) so before she can ask us to close the door and keep it down, we usher her in, and say, "You have to see this! It's like DDR with BONGOS!!" So naturally she stayed and watched a bit, and left us without a fuss. I think she may come back to play sometime. She's obsessed with DDR, its great.

So then I come back from DDR, and see an angry message from Reid saying that I left him AGAIN! (Note: I forgot Kayla too, and she didnt leave me an angry message--Crap, I just realized I forgot about her right now, as I'm typing this...)

But anyways, I'm tired, but I felt guilty so I thought the least I could do was leave a blog post before bed, explaining how mean I am to Reid, that way you all know, so you dont have to hear it hours on end from him ;)

But I think I shall go to bed now...

I forgive you for leaving me, but couldn't you at least say brb, or something so i at least know that you aren't there, that you aren't just waiting for a comment to reply to. Now an inspirational statement from coach Bauer "Red blood makes the grass grow greeen." Keep it Real.

Reid

P.S. I'm thinking about dropping the Irish Midget, what do you think?

I love Jonathan! 10/01/2004 02:11:00 PM

He's such a silly boy.

He's a pretty reserved guy, and you know quiet, and really really tall...but anyways, so Ruth, Ivan, and I get home, and I hide ruths lemonade cause she's really really overprotective, and anyways, were home for like 10 mins, and then John gets home, and burst in through the bathroom (we were all in Zanes room, and Ivan/John are suitemates, so their room connects with Zane and Tommys) and shouts really loudly with a giant smile, SLURPIE RUN!!! And none of us really wanted to go, cause we just got back from one, but it killed us to see the look on his face. We couldnt ruin his only spontaneous moment ever, and Sam wanted to drive my car, cause she thinks its evil, since it has red dash lights (instead of green), plus we had to take my car cause it was closest, so that meant Ivan had to go, cause he always wants to drive, and that meant I had to go, since we were obviously taking my car, and that meant Ruth had to go, cause I told her so.

So we went on yet another Slurpie run. The first time I got Mountain Dew, but this time I got Orange, with a mix of Bannanna, and then squirted some different flavors of the snow cone syrup in it (they have is so you can put it in your pop, and make your own, Shirley Temple, etc.) and it was really crazy. I was awake till like 3 in the morning. But its okay, cause last night was the first night in forever that I had no homework. On the way home I took a sip of Zane's that he made us get (he was too lazy to move from his chair...he even said he had to pee really bad, but didnt want to move...haha) But dont tell him. He's a freak when it comes to that stuff. But he, Lacey (the one who talks like a black man) and I are going to a Jazz concert Sunday. I'm excited.
