Saturday
9/18/2004 02:34:00 PM So after the clock struck (or beeped, or blinked)1:00 am, we took off for Snucks. There were 6 of us so fitting in Ruth's car was fun. We made some kinda mean comments about being packed in like Mexicans, so Ivan felt at home. And Jonathan had to sit on my lap kinda. Which is very strange if you know Jon (which none of you do, so I'll explain.) He's a 7 foot tree. Or a pole, whichever you prefer. He also has wild hair, which had nothing to do with him sitting on my lap, but it just helps for the mental image..(he's also very protective of his hair, he doesn't let anyone touch it...just his rabbits foot around his neck) *Side note, he also appears to have that John Nuxoll look going on, but he cant help that they dont make cool plaid pants for giants like himself. Anyways, we stocked up on groceries, came home, and ate Lucky Charms in Sam's room (1-cause its really nifty, and 2-cause her roomate was gone for the weekend, and none of us wanted to disturb ours, and 3-okay, Ivan and Jon were both awake, but we didnt want to use their room cause their messy boys) I think we ate 2 boxes...it was sad...but very satisfying. So we watched this movie "Strange Brew" (I swear someone was telling me about this movie, and it may have been Holly or Charlie, if not, then maybe I heard it from someone else...or I'm just crazy --which is a likely possiblity) and it was funny, but very stupid. It was a make of Hamlet (think Scotland PA with MacBeth) but with Canadians and lots of beer involved. Then after that was over, and we were still awake and eating Lucky Charms, we watched Bio-Dome (another funny, very stupid movie). Oh yeah, during the first Hamlet Canadian Knock Off one, there was an intermission, so we all had our blankets and pillows now, so we were gonna just have a sleep over, but (even with our nice size dorms) I have to admit it woulda been kinda crowded...I kept kicking Ruth and Ivan, and somehow even Zane, who wasnt even near me. And Jon's parents were coming for a visit, so he wanted to be able to wake up. So at 5:30 am, we all dispersed back to our own rooms. All the clubbers had just gotten back briefly before, and my suitemate Emily didnt have her keys so she just walked through our room and scared the shit out of Mica, cause she was half sleeping, and thought it was two of me. And then at 9:00 am, the fire alarm goes off, which really sucked, cause I was tired, and we find out that it was an accident/faulty thing, not a drill, so you think the first thing they'd try to do would be to shut of the alarm right? Apparently the great gods of the alarm controlling didn't agree. It was on for like half an hour. So since the few of us who hadn't really slept yet, where now widely (eh, okay, half) awake, we decided to make everyone breakfast. Okay, Sam made breakfast while the rest of us, sat around talking with our wannabe Canadian accents. It was fun. We made biscuits (how do you spell biskits?) and gravy, but I hate biscuits and gravy so I just ate biscuits, but luckily some of our other floor mates came to join us in the kitchen and someone brought jelly (or jam, whatever) and it was nice. Then, the alarm stopped, and we (some) went back to bed. I stayed up and got to watch part of my first Nebraska game this year. Wooo! Now, I'm typing to you from the lab (I kinda snuck in, I dont think this one was supposed to be open, cause all the others are closed, but oh well). I think I might go shopping for earplugs later though. For my next Psych paper, we have to do an experiment on ourselves of sorts. We have to decide to either be blind, or deaf, for 17 hours, and write a paper on it. At first I thought, okay, I would be deaf cause at least I could walk around. Then I thought, wait, I cant go a whole 17 hours without any music! Plus, being blind would be a really good experience to go through I think. Then I thought, I could hear stuff, but I wouldnt be able to use the computer or anything...plus, I dont think I would trust Ruth or Katie to guide me places, I think one of them would push me down the stairs, or stick me in the elvator, with no way to know what buttons I'm pushing or what level I'd get off on. So I'm kinda torn. I think if I couldnt hear anything than my own thoughts though, I would seriously drive myself insane. Maybe that's why I always have something else going on around me, to distract myself. Anyways, I would appreciate some feedback on this, and see which you guys would choose and why...so leave a comment if you wish. Or email me, whatever turns your crank. |

Steph I believe it would be better being deaf. becuase you could just carry a notebook for people to write on. And if you wree blind you wouldn't be able to see everybody's pretty faces, (or any scruffy men, i can't believe i just said that) But if you were blind, we wouldn't be able to talk to you on the computer, and the beeping on messenger would drive you nuts ;),And I don't know what i would do if your blog went un-updated for 17 hrs. Get your computer fixed!!!
I want to help Steph be blind. I would feed her all sorts of vegetables and then make her listen to my Meatloaf CD over and over and over...Ah, I miss Steph.
See, I thought about the notebook thing too (reminds me of Johnny taking Maggie's when she needed one, heehee, but I still think I would go crazy without hearing stuff...you really trust me alone with me thoughts? <-Wow, I meant 'my thoughts' but it kinda sounded Irish the other way, so I thought it was appropriate to leave it as such, since I am replying to Reid.
My life is so meaningless without Messenger now....wait--your's beeps? Thats so cool, I'm jealous, mine never makes noises--well, not any anymore, lol. I'll have to check out the settings, when I get it back....
Steph to make your messenger beep, click tools > Options > Preferences > under alerts click box that's next to "play sound when contacts sign in or send a message"..... and then you can have beeps of your own.
Dork,
I cant really do that now can I....
